Some of the latest rumors suggest that the Canon 60D will offer an external mic jack for audio recording when shooting video. An external mic jack is found on the Canon 5D Mark II; however, there is no ability to record audio on the Canon Rebel T1i other than through the on-board mic.
This rumor makes sense because the 60D lines is more pro and enthusiast oriented, whereas the Rebel-series is clearly geared toward soccer moms and the consumer crowd in general.
